An Influential Republican Just Admitted US Would Be Better Off If Dems Won Congress In 2018

“Personally, as a Republican, in the past few weeks, I’ve wondered, is the republic safer if democrats take over the House in 2018,” Jolly said. “I raised that issue with the leading Republican in DC last week and the remarkable thing is he had been thinking the same thing. This is a President that needs a greater check on his power than Republicans in Congress have offered.Look at this in real time. There is no discernible Republican ideological agenda that is worth fighting for right now. We do know that we have a President that very well might put this nation at risk and this Republican Congress has done nothing to check his power. Democrats could – and we might be better off as a republic – if they took the House in 2018.”
Jolly’s surprising statement comes after a slew of public Republican spats with the White House. Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Bob Corker (R-TN), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Susan Collins (R-ME) have all been personally targeted by the President, decimating what fragile political capital he ever had in Congress.
In his short time in office, Trump has instigated international crises with North Korea, Iran, China, Canada and Mexico, and destroyed our nation’s credibility on the world stage. While our President engages in daily attacks on his “enemies” – who range from Democrats to our free press to our own international allies to Republicans who don’t give him their full, unquestioning loyalty – he has left the United States vulnerable to a very real and growing threat on our safety – and sovereignty.
Even Republicans are conceding that their short time as the governing party is not only a failure, but a dangerous one.
