Trump Just Blamed The Entire Republican Party For His Own Failures

President Donald Trump has proven himself stunningly incapable of achieving any kind of meaningful legislative victory. He’s been in the Oval Office for 269 days and still doesn’t have his absurd Mexican border wall, he couldn’t pass Trumpcare, and he still hasn’t managed to pass his promised tax reform. He is, in the truest sense of the term, a failed president. President Deals turned out to be anything but.
Of course, an egomaniac like Trump is also pathologically incapable of taking any responsibility for his own shortcomings. His entire persona is built on the idea of being an unmitigated success and so he is quick to insist any problems with his administration are caused by forces beyond his control.
Today, Trump admitted that he and the Republicans aren’t “getting the job done” but then quickly added, “And I’m not going to blame myself. I’ll be honest. They are not getting the job done.”
Trump is the leader of the Republican Party, and as president, he is responsible for forging compromises between the disparate voting blocs within his party. His people control every branch of government but are so painfully incompetent that they can’t even pass the bills that their base voted them into office to enact.
Trump singled out Senator John McCain (R-AZ) for killing the Trumpcare bill on the Senate floor, an act for which McCain was lauded. Trump also threw his tacit support behind ousted White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon who has returned to run Breitbart News and recently “declared war” on the GOP establishment, declaring that he intended to primary numerous incumbents. Trump is so desperate to dodge blame that he’s willing to throw the entire Republican Party under the bus.
As usual, there is a hypocritical Trump tweet from the past that applies perfectly to his current rhetoric.

President Obama was ten times the dealmaker that Trump is, and managed to pass numerous pieces of landmark legislation during his two terms. Deep down Trump knows he will never measure up, and is pulling out every excuse he can think of to protect his fragile ego.
