Trump Just Said The Justice System Is A “Laughingstock.” George Takei’s Response Is Perfect

Trump will do whatever it takes to shield himself from criticism, even it means throwing an entire branch government full of hardworking public servants under the bus. Today, Trump used yesterday’s NYC terror attack to vilify the federal justice system, calling it a “joke.”
He criticized the justice system for not being tough enough on terrorists. Apparently, the president wants to throw the rule of law out altogether and administer whatever punishment happens to pop into his head. It’s hardly a surprising statement, given his well-documented fetishization of authoritarians.
The man who mowed down and killed innocent people yesterday is a terrible person deserving of a harsh sentence, but he’s still entitled to the same legal processing as every other heinous criminal. The right to due process is not something that can be waived on a whim.
George Takei, the legendary actor and frequent Trump critic, took to Twitter offer up the perfect response to Trump’s blathering:
Takei’s tweet is, of course, a reference to the bombshell announcement on Monday that several Trump campaign officials have been indicted as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. There are rumors that more indictments are on the way, and it looks increasingly likely that Trump’s administration will implode.
